Beatrice von Preussen
26 November – 1 December 2019
An exhibition of illustration and printmaking from the Arctic and Antarctic.
Beatrice von Preussen is a printmaker who has travelled to the Arctic and Antarctic. This is a collection of work made both in the field, and back in her Brighton studio.
On a quest to find the world’s northernmost printing press, Beatrice sailed around the Svalbard archipelago high in the Arctic Circle. Having met polar bears and found fossils she travelled to the Antarctic Peninsula in search of the world’s southernmost printing press.
On Deception Island Beatrice joined a team investigating microbial food webs. Working closely with scientists has given her a unique view of the natural world and shaped the process of creating prints made at either end of the Earth.
