‘Drawing and Reinterpreting the Masters’ - a four-week course with Sara Lee Roberts

‘Drawing and Reinterpreting the Masters’ - a four-week course with Sara Lee Roberts

Dates: Monday evenings from 15th January - 5th February 2024

Venue: The Gallery at Green & Stone

Tickets: £180

As Picasso said, 'All artists borrow, great artists steal'.

In this 4-week class you will improve your drawing skill whilst also discovering your own unique way to reinterpret the Masters' works. We will consider the responses made to the past by contemporary artists and cover 4 main topics:

  • Portraits - how to achieve character and likeness, looking at the role of posture/stance , costume and surroundings as well as at capturing the proportions of the face.

  • Figure groups - how to suggest a relationship between characters and make an overall atmosphere.

  • Mythical landscapes - blending reality with dream and creating beautiful light.

  • Harnessing the power of colour and decorative patterns.

This is designed as a course that develops techniques over 4 weeks. Suitable for all levels, beginners welcome - an interest in all eras is the only essential.

Materials necessary for the course are provided by Green and Stone.

We will be drawing on St Cuthberts Mill Bockingford® paper.

Drinks kindly provided by Tom Savano Cocktails.
