Fundamentals of Drawing the Figure
In this workshop, attendants will be introduced to a range of techniques to learn and improve their drawing of the nude figure in dry media.
In the first session, Oscar will provide a brief background into the history of drawing the figure, providing a theoretical foundation to the popular artistic exercise. Following this, the class will draw the figure in short poses (varying from 1 - 20 minutes). Oscar will demonstrate a range of techniques on using different qualities of line to capture gesture and proportion. The Second session will expand upon gesture drawing by introducing methods of tonal drawing, to convey light, form, and dimension, working with longer poses. In the final session, attendees will work on a singular long-pose drawing, working in a constructive method, and combining the former techniques to achieve a dramatic and life-like impression. In each session, Oscar will demonstrate with a comprehensive explanation of his techniques, and offer one-to-one critique as attendants draw.
All levels are welcome.
