I was born in Mid Wales and educated in London and Switzerland. I now live in Wiltshire. Having always loved all forms of art I started to paint 6 years ago after closing my interior decoration company. I took a few lessons with small groups of friends with a wonderful welsh artist. He encouraged me to keep going, so I then started to travel the world taking my oils with me.
I mainly like painting in oils. I have done several world trips hence some of my paintings are of places I have visited. I particularly love bright colours, warm countries which I hope I have shown in my work.

Robert Rattray was born in Ireland and grew up in the Welsh countryside. Robert studied sculpture at the City and Guilds of London Art School and has been working professionally since 1994. Portraits and animal pieces, both sculpture and drawings, provide the backbone of his work reflecting his passionate interest in wildlife and his rural roots. Robert’s sculptural work is split into two distinct styles: bronze and silver pieces which are modelled in impressionistic style and his welded steel pieces which show a unique approach to his subject. Robert was short-listed by the Public Monuments and Sculpture Association for the 2014 Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture for his ‘Windsor Greys’ Statue, which was unveiled by Her Majesty The Queen in April 2014. Robert works from his studio in Wales and has exhibited mainly in the UK.
Wildlife has interested me since I started sculpting 30 years ago. I have always been fascinated by the subject’s movement, and using it’s anatomy, I try to capture the energy that flows from their movement.
