CHARLOTTE SUTTON

COEXIST

4–9 September 2023, 10.00–17.00

Private View: Tuesday 5 September, 18.30–20.30

  • Within a world burdened by the complexities of coexistence between humans and wildlife, the pressing challenges of climate change, poaching, and habitat loss persist, yielding detrimental consequences for both realms. Yet, in this captivating collection of paintings, Charlotte extends a personal invitation, welcoming the animal kingdom into our human habitat, fostering a harmonious sanctuary where we can happily co-exist with each other. These evocative artworks transcend physical boundaries, through their immersive quality, evoke profound emotions and forge an indelible bond that unites observer and observed.

Charlotte uses high quality acrylic paints and a specific paint layering technique to create depth and realism in her artwork. Her paintings are visually stunning, with intricate patterns, colours, and textures which can transport the viewer into the world of the animal. This time consuming, meditative and contemplative process allows her to immerse herself in an environment and capture its essence on canvas. Because of this she has developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and a desire to express that appreciation through her art with the aim to remind viewers of the wonder and value of the natural world, and the need to protect it.

  • London-based artist Charlotte Sutton, creates stunning acrylic and watercolour paintings that beautifully depict animals and ecosystems with astonishing detail. Growing up on a farm, Charlotte developed a deep love for nature's beauty, complexity, and diversity, which continues to inspire her artwork. With a Fine Art degree from Central Saint Martins, Charlotte sees her art as a reflection of her lifelong fascination with nature. Through her paintings, she invites viewers to pause and appreciate the incredible details of our world, celebrating the beauty of animals and recognising their crucial role in all ecosystems.
