  • Daphne and Clementine Hanbury, a dynamic duo of artistic talent, come together for a joint exhibition, showcasing their distinct yet complementary styles. The exhibition will be held at The Gallery at Green & Stone from 10 – 15th June 2024.

    Daphne Hanbury, from the picturesque southern delta of the USA, brings her rich background in Fine Art and Art History to the forefront. Educated in Virginia, Daphne's journey has taken her across continents, from the ateliers of Florence to the scenic landscapes of England. As a seasoned oil painter, Daphne's artwork is a testament to her passion for capturing the essence of landscapes, portraits, and still life. With studios nestled in Croatia and West Sussex, she draws inspiration from the diverse landscapes surrounding her.

    Joining her in this artistic endeavour is her daughter, Clementine Hanbury, a contemporary realist painter and draftswoman based in London. Clementine's creative journey has been shaped by her extensive training in Florence and London, culminating in a style that seamlessly blends intimacy and depth. Her portraits, scenes, landscapes, and still lifes testify to her dedication to capturing life under natural light conditions, resulting in nuanced renderings that resonate with viewers profoundly.

    Clementine's work has garnered international acclaim, with pieces in private collections spanning the globe, from the United States to Hong Kong, Italy to the United Kingdom. Her presence in prestigious group shows such as the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and Arcadia Contemporary in New York speaks to her stature in the contemporary art world. Notably, she recently exhibited alongside Picasso, Warhol, and Cocteau in Paris, cementing her place firmly as a contemporary star.

  • Daphne Hanbury is a native of the southern delta in the USA. Educated in Virginia, she gained a BA in Fine Art and Art History. Over the years she has travelled and studied extensively to include ateliers in both Florence and England.

    She is primarily an oil painter, with a special love for landscapes, portraits and still life. She has studios in both Croatia and West Sussex where she gets much of her inspiration.

    Daphne has curated and supported many art events in the past, to include Masterpiece (London), Sculpture in the Garden (West Sussex), Harting Village Exhibitions, along with College Arts bi-annual show and the Vis Art Exhibition which she curated alongside her daughter, Clementine.

  • Clementine Hanbury is a contemporary realist painter and draftswoman based in London. She trained for many years in Florence and London. Hanbury paints portraits, scenes, landscapes and still lives predominantly from life under natural light conditions, allowing for both an intimacy and depth and creating a more genuine, nuanced rendering of her subjects.

    Hanbury’s work is held in many private collections internationally, to include the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

    She has participated in a number of group shows annually, including the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the New English Art Club, Hampstead Art Society, and Arcadia Contemporary in New York. Last year, she exhibited as the sole contemporary painter alongside Picasso, Warhol and Cocteau in Paris.
