£150.00

Date: Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th January (2 days workshop)

Time: 11:00am - 4:00 pm

Venue: The Gallery at Green & Stone

Tickets: £150

Drawing the Portrait

In this workshop, attendants will be taken through the fundamentals of portraiture drawing, working from one model holding a sustained pose for the two days.

Using the method of comparative measurement, we will cover the various stages of drawing a portrait from the initial first marks focused on the larger proportions and gesture, the importance of shapes in capturing a likeness, value arrangement, form modelling, and finishing the drawing with consideration given to topics such as edges and line weight.

Attendants will be toning their own paper with charcoal powder and have the option to work with graphite and/or charcoal on their drawings. Stephanie will work alongside attendants rather than give a group demonstration in order to maximise model and one-to-one tuition time.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of drawing ability and you will receive multiple critiques tailored to your individual requirements.

You should expect an enjoyable and informative weekend and to come away from the course with an overview of classical drawing methods that you can use to approach future work.

All abilities are welcomed.

All art materials provided by Green & Stone.

Drinks and Snacks will be available.
