Artist Statement

My practice explores the role of architecture and the impact it has on our lives. Drawing enables me to focus on every detail within the form of the building, allowing me to place an emphasis on certain angles and viewpoints. I like to create artworks that look up from ground-level as if we are looking up as I was when I started my drawings. Using traditional methods of printmaking, such as screen print and etching, I create a second stage to my process where I am able to manipulate the black in the line-work and add a tactile nature to the final piece. I am concerned by the impact of ai and digital work on traditional art methods, which is another reason why I only use analogue processes to create my artworks. All of my work is hand-drawn and hand-printed, this helps me to understand my artwork and gives the final form a beautiful and unique finish.
