Artist Statement

Giulia Quaresima is an Italian artist who lives and works in Cambridge, UK. Her artistic activity focuses on figurative subjects, particularly portraits and human bodies. In her latest series, the artist reflects on the power of gesture and body language to express emotions and feelings; in particular she works on the thin line that separates loneliness from solitude, preferring unusual and striking composition and zooming as close as possible to the sitter putting a lot of emphasis on their hands and portraits. Her favourite practice is drawing, especially coloured pencils on paper or wood panel, but she also like oil painting.
