Artist Statement

I’m a figurative artist working predominantly in oils. Narrative is important to me in my work and my paintings are very much lead by ideas and concepts. Currently I am interested in exploring painting a single female figure in space and connecting with the viewer through a feeling or emotion. Whether it is questioning our mortality, our inner strength, or our vulnerability. I love oil paint and my paintings are very much about the paint too. The texture, the brushmarks and the depth. Colour is important to me and I will quite often work in a limited colour palette to help convey the story I want to tell.
