Artist Statement

Vanessa works from observation in response to the worlds of ballet, theatre, fashion, and film. Her dynamic drawings brim with excitement and drama and evoke worlds of illusion and make believe, all seen with a keen and empathetic female gaze.

Vanessa Lawrence is a Brighton based artist & educator. Having studied Fine Art MA at Brighton University & Royal Drawing School Drawing Development Year 2021-22, she has worked in museums & galleries across the UK. Recent exhibitions and prizes include 26 Eyes: Royal Drawing School x Bermondsey Project Space 2022, In Disguise & Tour Art Prize Glyndebourne 2022, FIDA x IMM Summer Fashion Arts Exhibtion Miami 2021, VIA Arts Prize 2020. Vanessa Lawrence has work in UK and international public and private collections, her work can be seen listed with ArtUK.org.
