Artist Statement

In my coloured pencil drawings I celebrate the queer and multicultural life I myself am a part of. By capturing transient gestures, atmospheric encounters and extending them into timelessness, they form a kind of eternal safe space that in everyday life is not always a given. I aim to portray this multifarious life in all its natural beauty by shedding a soft and loving light on it. I feel like this creates a gentle but empowering representation, which is not to be underestimated especially for members of the lgbtq community who are not able to live their life openly and freely in their home countries like the friend of mine from Uganda who is depicted in the two portraits that I submitted here.
