Artist Statement

I paint still life in oils. I am very interested in the use of natural light on all types of objects and also in the individual character of the objects that I paint. My influences are painters such as Manet, Vuillard, William Nicholson and Diebenkorn. I would like my paintings to feel as if someone has just left the room after moving the subject of the piece: that the objects are almost still moving as I paint them. I am always aiming to obtain the truest and purest forms of colour and colour relationships.
