Artist Statement

Seán Whelan Dempsey is an Irish artist living and working in London. His work is largely made using the mediums of painting and screen printing.

Drawing inspiration from that which is close to him, Seán’s work is autobiographical. From mental health struggles to fractured relationships and issues of isolation/loneliness - his work is depicted using imagery which is disturbing yet often at times humorous and surreal.

Seán’s work serves as a means of diarying his own personal tribulations. The work is an effort to capture a sense of dis-ease, of paranoia, a sense of being broken/fractured and of being trapped.
